Recalls in the Auto Industry
A big issue that has popped up is the recall of more than 280,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles. This is because of reports from automakers of fires and melting incidents in both the United States and Canada. Automakers reported around 25 fire incidents that were caused by trailer hitch wiring.
While the reports of the fires were concerning, no crashes or injuries of car owners were found to have occurred. Of the vehicles for the recall, more than 245,000 Hyundai Palisade and over 36,000 Kia Telluride vehicles were affected. The models of the vehicles include the 2020 through the 2022 year models.
Hyundai has an interim repair where dealers will inspect the wires said to have been the cause of the issue. On the other hand, Kia does not have an interim repair. However, both companies plan to have a final repair that is currently in development.
